Visit of the Castel OF THE Bosc

THE CASTLE OF THE BOSC: CHILDHOUSE OF THE PAINTER HENRI DE TOULOUSE-LAUTREC

The castle of Bosc is located on the commune of Camjac en Aveyron at 7 kms from Camping du lac de Bonnefon. This castle and the lands of the Bosc had remained from the beginning in the same family, the imbert du Bosc, officers of the king, faithful to the monarchy. The family died out in the 19th century.

The castle passed into the hands of the family Toulouse-Lautrec by marriage and was converted into a family home by the Countess Gabrielle de Toulouse-Lautrec, maternal grandmother of the painter.

Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec was born on November 24, 1864, in Albi. He grew up in the Château du Bosc surrounded by his parents and uncles who passed on to him the taste for drawing on his return from hunting trips. In May 1878 and July 1879, he broke both his femurs which made him crippled at the age of 15. He decided to learn the art by following a classical course. A artistic career and a Parisian life that we know him.

He came back every summer to spend some good time with his family. Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec died on September 9, 1901, in Malromé in Gironde, where he is buried.

This house can be visited every day by reservation. A pleasant visit to do with family or friends, (coupled with a trip to the museum of Toulouse-Lautrec at the Palais de la Berbie in Albi, birthplace of the painter) before a return to the campsite of the Lake Bonnefon, to enjoy the aquatic space or the cocktail bar at the end of the day.
